The road surface of Peardon Street has been in poor condition for some time and as you may know, a new surface will be laid on Wednesday. The work will take just two days and will make the street a much safer and more pleasant place. Your local councillors have asked that disruption be kept to a minimum.
The work in Peardon Street is being done as part of Lambeth Council’s Better Neighbourhoods environmental improvements scheme. In partnership with Lambeth Living, the council is undertaking a £3.5 million programme of environmental works to make Lambeth cleaner, greener and safer.
Your local councillors have strongly supported the Better Neighbourhoods approach, which targets key areas where housing estates that are in most need of environmental improvements are next to the borough’s roads that are in poor condition.
Your councillors believe that by improving estates and streets together, residents will have a far better experience of moving around their local area.
Roads and pavements are only part of the Better Neighbourhoods story. New street trees will be planted, recycling facilities will be improved on estates and tired and outdated street signs and furniture will be replaced.
